For Joseph and Cathy Tonna, a series of health setbacks and other life-changing events had them feeling like they very much needed a fresh change from where they were living.
And that’s when they decided to start making plans to build their long awaited dream home.
So after finding the land they wanted on the outskirts of Canberra, they decided to make the call to Resi and start the ball rolling to get their finance approved.
The Tonnas had previously used a local Resi representative to purchase their existing house a number of years earlier - but upon making contact again, found out he was no longer in the area.
It was at this point that they were put in touch with one of Resi’s regional lending specialists, James Jordan from the Maitland region – and that was also when everything became easier, according to Joseph.
“We had already had so much to contend with when we made the decision to build a new home and a new life for ourselves. And to be perfectly honest, so many people had let us down prior to then, that we were losing faith and wondering whether our plans for a fresh start were simply going to become a pipe dream.
However, from the moment we first spoke with James – all of those concerns went out the door,” said Joseph.
Joseph says James was immediately across what the Tonnas needed to obtain their construction loan and was also able to provide other invaluable support to assist them with some of the yet to be encountered aspects of their build.
He says: “Taking out a construction loan to build your home involves a prolonged process - which if it’s not managed well, can delay the building process.”
“But happily for us, through all the phone, email and postal communication that went on over the eight months it took us to build our home, James could not do enough. Nothing was ever too much trouble and no issue was ever too small,” he adds.
The Tonnas finally moved into their new home in May this year and are thrilled about starting a new chapter in their lives.
Joseph says: “Making that call to James was a pivotal moment for us – and now he and Resi have helped turn our lives around.”
